We are so very disappointed to have to let you know that the Business Book Awards dinner on
Monday 23rd March 2020 is cancelled.

We hoped that even in these most challenging circumstances we would be able to manage the event
safely for everyone who wanted to attend, but after yesterday’s announcement (on 16th March 2020)
by the Prime Minister it became clear that this would not be possible.

While there have been no provisions placed on businesses in the Westminster area or advice that
events should not take place, people have been advised not to travel unnecessarily. We have
therefore taken what we believe are the correct steps and have cancelled our event.
We do not feel it’s appropriate to postpone the announcement of the Business Book Awards 2020,
potentially for months; the awards are time-sensitive and we know that all the short-listed authors
are anxiously waiting to find out whether they have won their category, and who will be the winner
of Business Book of the Year.

Instead of announcing the winners of the Business Book Awards at the splendid dinner we had
planned, we will livestream a video event from 7pm via our Facebook Page on Monday 23rd March
2020, in which the speeches will be broadcast and the winning authors will be announced. We hope
you will join the watch party and celebrate the results from the comfort and safety of your own
home.

In the near future we hope to invite everyone who booked to come to the BBA event to a celebratory
party in the summer months when Covid 19 may be under enough control to make such a gathering
possible.

We are currently assessing refunds in line with our Terms & Conditions. As small businesses we, our
venue, suppliers, partners and sponsors are all out of pocket because of the cancellation. The fact
that this is due to an international pandemic nullifies all insurance, added to which, the lack of clarity
from the government on banning events makes it more difficult for us to make a claim. We will
continue to pursue this matter with our insurers and the government’s compensation scheme, and
anything we receive will be distributed equally among all ticket holders.

Thank you for all your support for the Business Book Awards. We are devastated that we are unable
to welcome you to the wonderful event we have worked so hard to organise, but hope you will
continue to follow the action on the live-stream. We will keep you updated with the details of this.
