I have been passionate about mediation and dispute resolution since practising law over 20 years ago where I saw how mediation provided solutions where the law fell short.

I head up The Conflict Resolution Centre focussed on providing dynamic and transformational solutions to conflict situations.  Going beyond avoiding litigation and rebuilding critical relationships, we transform employee engagement, wellbeing and customer service through effective responses to conflict.  I am married with two daughters who are her perpetual and constant teachers.

My motivation in writing the book was to give organisations and individuals the tools to nip conflict in the bud and use it as an opportunity for innovation and change.  The book provides simple ideas to enable a change of mindset and practical toolkits to and have win-win conversations or negotiations.  It also provides frameworks to help organisations move away from cultures of blame and shame which are often exemplified by the disciplinary and grievance process, to cultures of empowerment and recognition exemplified by “Early Resolution Schemes”.

The solutions for advancement in resolution culture do not stop at the corporate door. Children and young adults face increasing exposure to conflict whatever their background.  Neighbours and communities struggle to get on in an environment of political and economic insecurity.  Business time is wasted by protracted disagreements.  With this in mind, the book provides practical solutions that can be adapted according to the presenting circumstances.

From publishing the book, I have been enlivened to and inspired by the innovation in business and social thinking on offer today.  Meeting other authors and witnessing the appetite for new ideas has developed my curiosity and my own desire to learn and innovate further.
