Meet The Author: Greg Orme

26th February 2020

When Greg Orme walked off stage he was asked a question that stopped him in his tracks. A female CEO, who’d been in the audience for his keynote speech, asked: “With the rise of AI, what’s left for humans in the workplace?” She followed up with: “In this disrupted digital world, what skills do I need to succeed for the rest of my career? And, what will my teenage daughter need when she gets her first job?” The determination to reveal the answers to these crucial questions took Greg on a startling three-year journey. It led to the publication of his latest book The Human Edge, how curiosity and creativity are your superpowers in the digital economy (Pearson, 2019).

The practical tools and techniques in the book have been refined and road-tested in Greg’s organisational change and leadership development work across the globe. Greg works with management teams who need to be more  creative and innovative to thrive in a world of accelerating change. He was the founding CEO of London Business School’s Centre for Creative Business and now leads the School’s organisational change programmes with global clients in banking & insurance, automotive, FMCG, manufacturing and technology. His private portfolio of clients include Sky, Ogilvy & Mather, eBay, the International Olympic Committee, the World Economic Forum, EY, Cognizant, Accenture, Tata Steel, the Young Presidents’ Organization, Randstad Group and Virgin Media among others.

As a globally-renowned keynote speaker he’s delivered more than 350 talks to executive audiences around the world. His first career as a national BBC and ITN journalist enables him to speak and write with memorable clarity. It also means he’s a uniquely-effective and sought-after facilitator of large events.

Greg often receives requests to contribute to the media on business issues and has appeared on BBC World News, Forbes and in The Financial Times among others. Greg’s acclaimed first book The Spark, how to ignite and lead business creativity (FT Publishing, 2014) is now available in a Chinese translation.

In The Human Edge Greg explores the skills you need to survive and thrive in a world of artificial intelligence and ubiquitous smartphones. He urges us to stop competing with machines but instead focus on doing the things machines can’t. The book is a practical toolkit to master four intrinsically human ‘superpowers’: curiosity, creativity, consciousness and collaboration.

Greg draws upon the latest psychological and neuroscience research, the unique philosophies of successful entrepreneurs, the practises of the world’s most innovative companies, as well as the habits of great artists, designers and scientists. Adrian Monck, a Member of the Managing Board of the World Economic Forum describes The Human Edge as “The 21st century guidebook you and your kids need to stay one step ahead in the age of computerised competition.”
