Erica Wolfe-Murray, author of ’Simple Tips, Smart Ideas: Build a Bigger, Better Business’

Cited by Forbes.com as ‘a leading innovation and business expert’, I’m passionate about helping businesses and freelancers flourish.

Having spent my career working across the high-growth creative sector in advertising, tv production, design and licensing, I have lead companies as both a creative head and a financial director. This unusual combination gives me a unique ability to help companies grow inventively whilst ensuring their financial security. With my particular focus on delivering innovation from their existing assets and IP, I’ve worked with recognised brands such as Harvey Nichols, Not on the High Street and National Geographic, through to countless small businesses who have both grown and built new revenues/assets through working closely with me.

Realising that my simple but powerful methodology could help established micro business owners and freelancers who often get overlooked by grants or support programmes, I poured my knowledge into Simple Tips, Smart Ideas, an off-the-shelf support to encourage them to ‘go for growth’. Whether plumber, app developer or coffee bar owner.

The book covers six key areas:

– drawing up a business plan to harness the reader’s unique trajectory,

– helping them map their assets to develop new products/services,

– understanding their intellectual property and how to use it,

– reframing their financial planning and listing 50+ different ways of earning revenue,

– engaging in new ways with people and companies within their orbit,

– marketing tips and ideas.

The book was devised to be an easy-to-use self-help book to generate growth quickly and without fuss. Readers can dip-in and out as needed, learn from case studies, use the colourful diagrams and notate every page as I purposefully printed it on uncoated stock.

Publishing the book has helped me recognise how alone many micro venturers and freelancers feel, yet how crucial they are to the economy. If I could help just a small percentage of the 5m micro businesses and 5.5m freelancers in the UK grow by just 10% per annum, it would make a huge difference to their owners and to the economy.
