Della Hudson is a Chartered Accountant who grew her own business from one woman at her kitchen table to a flexibly working team based in offices above a pizza restaurant.

Della Hudson was compelled to write this book because, after years of advising small business owners, she wanted to help accountants and bookkeepers to set up their own modern businesses making the most of cloud technology.

For years people have described her as ‘not like other accountants’ so Della wanted to share how she went about building Hudson Business Accountants and Advisers so that others could do the same. Della is a firm believer that businesses need good accountants and advisers on their team. Her book has been described as “a Haynes manual for accountants taking the plunge to setting up their own practice, a ‘brutally honest, heartfelt’ guide to building a successful accountancy practice, written by an expert in her field”. With Della’s own story to inspire she shares the theory behind her own business success for others to read and save years on growing their own accountancy or bookkeeping firm.

Writing the book enabled Della to capture her knowledge (or 40,000 words of it, at least) following the sale of her own practice. Since embarking on sharing her journey she has been swept up into a whirlwind of speaking to accountants and bookkeepers around the world. She speaks and writes about common issues they encounter when starting or growing their businesses in a digital world. The book also forms the basis of an online course and Della’s individual coaching services for accountants and other business owners.

Della has happily made the transition from the world of numbers to written and spoken words.
