“For serious marketers only! If you are looking to integrate gamification into your marketing strategy, well, you’ve come to the right place. This is the bible. Finally a truly strategic approach to an often-times misunderstood practice.” — Joe Pulizzi, author of various books including ‘Killing Marketing’, ‘Content Inc.’ and ‘Epic Content Marketing’
Press Start: Using gamification to power-up your marketing – was co-authored by Daniel Griffin and Albert van der Meer. This joint work fuses the marketing expertise of Daniel Griffin with the gamification expertise of Albert van der Meer.
Albert is a Creative Consultant based in the Netherlands, working with a great many international businesses, including Hult International Business School, England & Wales Cricket Board, and UK Sport, to name but a few. He helps organisations through workshops to improve team cooperation and develop deeper, more meaningful learning through the use of narrative and gameful design techniques – as well as ongoing consulting work on business gamification.
Daniel is an award-winning marketer with over ten years of experience working for international businesses such as online retail giant Amazon and Hult International Business School. He developed an interest in gamification when researching consumer psychology. Since then, he has deep-dived into the subject, testing multiple frameworks and ideas across various industries, gaining a comprehensive knowledge of what does and doesn’t work from the frontlines.
The big idea behind the book is that while many professionals think that gamification was a fad that came and went, the truth is that many of the world’s most successful organisations have not stopped using gamification techniques to grow their brands and their customer engagement.
The book offers readers an introduction into what gamification is and the motivational psychology behind why it is so effective – but more than that, it provides readers a comprehensive step-by-step guide to creating a marketing gamification strategy for their organisation, regardless of their industry, size, and budget.
“It’s easy to underestimate the power of games. However, challenges and rewards are effective tools for driving consumer loyalty and engagement. Press Start not only provides fascinating insights into this process, it also functions as an accessible and engaging guide to success.” — Nir Eyal, bestselling author of ‘Hooked’ and ‘Indistractable’
