With a background in innovation I turned my side hustle into a startup. I now help people to make their ideas happen through writing, speaking, training and coaching.
I wrote How to Have a Happy Hustle to demystify the process of innovation so that everyone can put the best, research-backed approaches into practice – right here, right now, in the messy, complicated busyness of their lives.
Working on a side hustle changed my life and brought me huge fulfilment. While juggling full time work and a growing side project I shared what I was learning – running workshops and writing about it for my industry magazine.
The book empowers and supports people to make their ideas happen. And most importantly, to enjoy the process, and learn from the experience.
How to Have a Happy Hustle shares tried and tested approaches to making ideas happen and offers highly practical tips that readers can take away and use in their own side projects.
It features stories of success and failure from a diverse cast of idea-makers, from household names to small businesses and individuals with side projects.
In writing the book I set out to inspire people to act and give them the tools and mindset to do it.
It was important for me to walk the talk so writing the book was a case study in testing the innovation principles I was sharing. The book grew from series of blogs and workshops; the prototype was a proposal that I pitched to my agent and publishers; early validation came from beta readers who read and fed back at every stage. And true to the book, it was written as a side hustle to my business!
I have gained so much from the experience. Being published increases my reach and ability to help people do something they love and it’s connected me with readers all over the world who now inspire me with their stories.
