Andrea Clarke – I’m a recovering television news reporter who is obsessed with helping people accelerate their careers. As a news correspondent, I covered major news events around the world for Al Jazeera English, the Pentagon Channel and Thomson Reuters including the Obama Presidential Campaign, Hurricane Katrina and the Virginia Tech Campus shooting – before working on humanitarian aid programs to re-build Iraq and Afghanistan. I then lead the communication campaign for the Save Darfur advocacy movement to stop the genocide in Sudan.
When I moved back to Australia in 2011, I founded a business called CareerCEO with the purpose of helping people build confidence, communicate with authority and accelerate their careers. That was the same reason I wrote my first book – ‘Future Fit: How to Stay Relevant and Competitive in the Future of Work’. What Future Fit offers is a tactical guide to upgrading our human skills so we can be disproportionately advantaged through the 2020’s. We explore the top human skills that the World Economic Forum say, are the most important to a workforce facing disruptive factors like automation and artificial intelligence. These include communication, creativity, continuous learning, adaptability, networking, leadership, problem solving and reputation capital. I have personally and professionally felt exponential gains from writing Future Fit.
It’s been an immense privilege fastracking my connections to people who also work in the same field and have the same objective – to empower the workforce to future proof their career path in the face of unprecedented change. Future Fit has given me the opportunity to speak to a multitude of leadership teams across many businesses that sit across every sector in the Australian market. All I wanted to do was to get people thinking and I hope to continue this through the years ahead.
