– Why you wrote your book

Changes in today’s workplace are estimated by McKinsey Global Institute to be occurring at ten times the pace of the Industrial Revolution and 300 times the scale. Yet, most businesses and individuals are expected to consistently operate at a differentiated level in this increasingly complex, exponentially changing environment. These challenges can be overwhelming – it’s no surprise that workplace stress has increased significantly over the last three decades. The truth is, humans are not evolving as quickly as the pace of change, yet that pace is accelerating, leaving many of us struggling to meet, let alone exceed expectations.

Physical Intelligence helps us not only survive, but thrive in this environment. It is based on neuroscience and has been used by people in business all over the world to reach their peak performance. We wanted to write the book in order to be able to share these techniques with a wide audience, to help people reach their full potential.

– What value the book offers

This is the first substantial book in the market on physical intelligence and is co-written by Claire Dale, who developed the concept of Physical Intelligence. ‘Physical Intelligence’ is the biggest

development in human intelligence since the concept of ‘Emotional Intelligence’ was developed in the 90s. IQ and EQ (Emotional Intelligence) aren’t enough – for humans to thrive in today’s fast-paced world they need Physical Intelligence. Clients have provided the following feedback:

· A client team in the pharmaceutical industry achieved a 12.5 percent improvement in the profititability of their deals over a three month period practising Physical Intelligence techniques.

Using Physical Intelligence a technology company achieved double-digit growth in the midst of the last recession.

· The CEO of a leading financial services company determined that his executive team’s affiliative style was interfering with their ability to think creatively/innovate. Within months of Physical Intelligence training, operating efficiency had increased, feedback from clients had improved, employee satisfaction scores improved, and the team received excellent feedback from regulators.

· Members of the R&D team for a global CPG company have had their research funded at an accelerated rate and individual team members have been promoted up one and two levels within weeks or months of employing Physical Intelligence techniques.

These techniques work. Physical Intelligence has been proven time and again to power our performance and can create a positive shift at individual, organisational and board levels. In fact, we believe that Physical Intelligence is vitally important for the development of every man, woman and child across the globe.

– What you have gained from publishing the book

It has been wonderful to share Physical Intelligence techniques with a much wider audience of business leaders and individuals across the world. Normally we reach people through our training programmes but the book has spread the word about Physical Intelligence far beyond this, which has been hugely gratifying to see. The techniques are as intrinsic to thriving at home as at work and the book has also helped us reach a new audience beyond business. It has also allowed us to share our techniques via the media – with articles and interviews for outlets including BBC World News, The Times, Forbes, Management Today and an array of national lifestyle publications.

We are extremely grateful to everyone who supported this project and helped turn the dream into a reality. The response to the book has been fantastic and it feels like a life-time achievement. Writing it was an intense, sometimes gruelling and sometimes exhilarating affair. There were times when we felt we had a guardian angel. We became connected to our brilliant Agent (Andrew Gordon) due to a chance meeting whilst Claire was walking her dog! Other parts were pure slog. The deadline for the penultimate edit was moved forward. The last 10 days were spent with at Pat’s house in Arizona: we hardly got dressed, we rarely washed our hair, we just wrote and wrote, and edited and edited. We loved every minute of it. We were on a mission, firing on all cylinders and using every Physical Intelligence trick in the book (literally). Our husbands provided excellent cuisine during the entire process and without their generosity, support and selflessness the book would not have been possible.

We made the front page of the Daily Mail a few months after the launch and our book shot to #7 in the Amazon charts. It has exceeded all our expectations for success. We are very excited to attend the award ceremony. The field is so strong this year we are proud to be part of it.
