After short spells in the theatre, followed by academia, Sue realised that her passion for books and literature could mean only one thing, and her career in publishing began. Having started out as a copy editor on academic journals, Sue took the leap and began her first publishing company in 1999. A love of all things connected to textile art led her to create the annual Textile Directory and for the first few years she published mainly art, craft, cookery and photography books for budding creative types. Her collaboration with home economist, James McIntosh won them Best Series of Cookbooks at the Gourmande World Cookbook Awards in Paris in 2008. During the early years of her publishing adventure, alongside the artists and cooks, entrepreneurs and business owners were already approaching her. So in the early 2000s she began her work with changemaker businesses and organisations to turn their knowledge and expertise into thought-provoking, practical and business boosting books. Always an advocate for short, concise books, in 2016 Sue developed The Authority Guides, a series of practical, solution-focused books for small businesses. Sue’s strategic approach to book publishing empowers her authors to build credibility, profile, visibility and respect both as individuals and as brands. She is the founder and publishing director of The Right Book Company. She is also a speaker with 20 years’ experience of sharing her knowledge of publishing with the business community and beyond. Sue is a Fellow of the Professional Speaking Association.
