My name is Lily Satterthwaite, I was born in Vietnam from a Chinese father and a Franco German-Vietnamese mother and have been very lucky to have travelled to many countries & continents for work but also for leisure, I am therefore very proud to be called a globejetter. I love taking a deep dive into the countries’ cultures and traditions when am travelling or just learning about them via reading books/magazines/blogs/white papers etc…I utterly love reading and always carve out enough time to read every day regardless of how busy I am. I find reading so therapeutic and knowledge enhancing! My homes are in France and in Vietnam but UK has been my hub for over 25 years; am married to a British fellow whom I blame for the surname Satterthwaite that nobody can pronounce. We both take care of a rescued rebellious Rottweiler. I am an animal lover and have been fighting to stop Dog Meat in the Asia for the last 5 years and also to Stop Child Hunger. Workwise, I have been working for Microsoft for 8 years and I have had 7 jobs since joining Microsoft; I am currently the Regional Lead in the Global Capacity Team, part of the Microsoft Global Cloud and AI Business Unit. Prior to joining Microsoft, I worked at Telefonica, Rackspace, Cisco and Siemens Business Services as Programme Director; I developed and led highly complex global complex bid processes through to contract negotiation and successful delivery. My ultimate passion is to inspire and enable under privilege children & women to get into tech as part of my role as a STEM/STEAM volunteer and mentor and an active member of the Women in Tech community. In order to achieve my passion, I take advantage of the Volunteering programme offered by Microsoft, a great platform to help others. I also volunteer as an Enterprise Advisor for local schools as part of the Mayor of London Enterprise Adviser Network. I am also the Founder of the Care, Share & Inspire Initiative which strives to enable and empower students to see their potential for greatness and in Tech and I co-lead the Technical Women @Microsoft Global Partner Committee. I am also TEDxLondon volunteer and well-being walk lead at the weekends.
